MLB Umpire Pat Hoberg has been fired from umpiring for is involvement in gambling on baseball:
The worst part of this scandal is Hoberg was a fantastic umpire. You never heard of on the field controversy with him. In fact, he called a perfect game, balls and strikes wise in the 2022 World Series:
So while MLB fires an ump who shared accounts and their investigation finds that he did nothing himself, we get to sit and watch umpires like C. B. Bucknor, Hunter Wendelstedt, and Laz Diaz just butcher home plate and cost teams games.
MLB needs to crack down on bad umping if they are getting rid of the good ones.
