NY – We are a week and a half away from Pitchers and Catchers reporting to Tampa, FL and the Yankees are still not done with their offseason.

According to Mark Sanchez of the New York Post, the Yankees have two new targets in their chase for a new infielder after loosing Gleyber Torres to the Detroit Tigers last month. The two new names are Kike Hernandez and Yohan Moncada.

Sanchez notes that the interest in Moncada might be from more of a far. The team saw his medicals earlier in the offseason and have not re-engaged in talks since.

It’s not surprising that the Yankees have interest in Hernandez, as they offered him a deal last offseason that he passed up to return to the LA Dodgers. While Hernandez did not have the best overall offensive numbers, they did pick up after he fixed some vision problems. And by pick up, I mean he was hitting like an all star. Another bonus to Hernandez is his postseason consistency in terms of hitting. He always seems to rise to the occasion.
