Giancarlo Stanton:

  • Stanton was diagnosed with tennis elbow in both elbows, an injury that has affected him since the middle of the 2024 season.
  • Stanton stopped all baseball activities in the middle of January and upon reporting to camp, saw team physicians to determine a plan of action to get him back on the field.
  • Stanton has Received a PRP injection in both elbows
  • Stanton will begin the season on the IL and will be out until At Least the end of April.
  • Giancarlo Stanton received a second PRP injection in New York and is anticipated to return to the Yankees this weekend, though his baseball activity will be limited, according to Brian Cashman.

UPDATE on Stanton (03/13):

  • Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that Stanton is also dealing with chronic calf injuries in addition to the elbows (something not new to Stanton)
  • Heyman also notes that there is some optimism that Stanton could return to the Yankees lineup by Memorial Day.

Gerrit Cole:

Gerrit Cole will undergo Tommy John Surgery on March 11th and will miss the 2025 season and part of the 2026 season. Read more about Gerrit Cole’s injury below

Luis Gil:

  • Luis Gil reportedly had Shoulder Tightness during his Bullpen Session on February 28th.
  • Aaron Boone announced that Gil will be on the IL to start the 2025 season with a right lat strain. He will be shut down for 6 weeks.
  • The Yankees’ latest MRI on Luis Gil, conducted in New York, reaffirmed the high-grade lat strain diagnosis and the required six-week rest period. According to Brian Cashman, Gil will be out for a minimum of three months.

DJ LeMahieu:

  • DJ has a low grade calf strain
  • DJ had an MRI on March 4th
  • DJ’s MRI showed a Grade 1 or 2 calf strain, he said. While a precise return date remains unclear, he anticipates being sidelined from baseball activities for at least two weeks.

Clayton Beeter:

RHP Clayton Beeter’s right shoulder discomfort continues to sideline him. While he’s throwing in side sessions, a specific date for his return to game action is yet to be determined. His expected return is still slated for march.

Jonathan Loáisiga:

Jonathan Loáisiga is on the mend from right UCL surgery, which included an internal brace procedure on April 12, 2024. He’s currently throwing from the mound (as of March 4th) and is expected to be back in action in late April or early May.

Jake Cousins:

After a right forearm strain, Cousins has restarted his throwing program on March 3rd and is on track for an April return.

JT Brubaker:

During his spring debut on February 21st, Brubaker sustained three fractured ribs while trying to evade a comebacker. His return is to be determined.
