Tampa, FL – News this afternoon out of Tampa is that two new Yankees are injured.
First, Clarke Schmidt is dealing with a “cranky back” according to Boone. Both Aaron Boone and Matt Blake don’t think its that serious, and noted he threw a side session today, and could throw a bullpen as soon as Friday.
The more major injury comes to Chase Hampton. Hampton, a minor league pitching prospect has had a career of injuries. This injury is much more serious, as Boone noted that its an elbow injury that might have something to do with his UCL.
If it really is his UCL, it sounds like Tommy John, and will sideline Hampton till the Summer of 2026. This is a really tough break for Hampton.
