Stanton Injury Update

Tampa, FL – As each day of Yankees spring training passes, it becomes increasingly more unlikely that Giancarlo Stanton will start on Opening Day.

Giancarlo was diagnosed with Tennis Elbow in both elbows during last season, and had to manage it through the postseason run where Stanton took home the ALCS MVP honors and carried the Bombers to their first World Series appearance in 15 years.

Randy Miller of NJ.com, later confirmed by Jon Heyman and Greg Joyce of NY Post, reported that Stanton is heading back to New York to be checked out by team Dr. Chris Ahmad. It does not look good right now, but I’m in a glass half full mood, so maybe Dr. Ahmad is clearing him to begin baseball activities, but I doubt it.

Yankees fans are on social media saying things like “just get him ready for October”. The harsh reality is, there is a possibility that without Stanton protecting Judge in the lineup for a long period of time, there could be no October. The Yankees need to add a bat, but Jon Heyman reported that the Yanks are “out of loot”, so I don’t think that will happen anytime soon. One thing I can say is that as long as the pitching and bullpen hold up, that should be enough to carry the Yanks until Stanton’s return.
